International End Homophobia Day
May 17th 2008 The numbers of Lesbi-Gay-Bi-Trans-Phobias have increased and mental health related problems have also increased among the LGBT community. School bullying has increased to the extent that young persons are taking their lives.
There is concern about the trend for Neo fascists throughout Europe to verbally and violently attack LGBT citizens, in many cases with the police apparently allowing the attacks or joining in. In many European countries Gay Pride events are not allowed to proceed unhindered.
In 77 countries it is illegal to be gay, in some it is punishable by death.
Interrelated LGBT Phobias exist worldwide, even in the UK.
May 17th 2008 is International End Homophobia Day. There is a march and rally taking place in Oxford stating at noon and speakers include human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, Amnesty International LGBT group member Dennis Hambridge and UNISON LGBT health officer Richard Lohman.
